CHEMISTS' CONGRESS.
PROPOSED EXTRA CHARGE FOR NIG ITT DISPENSING. AUCKLAND, February 23. The Pharmaceutical Society’s conference lias concluded. A payer cn “The Commercial side of L’liarmacy” was read by Mr. Gieson, Te Kuiti. Arising out of (lie decision of the conference to further the formation of a Proprietary Articles Traders’ Association, the chairman announced that as the result of legal opinion it was clear the organisation would have to be separated from the Chemists’ Defence Association,lid., and be controlled as a distinct entity. The conference ordered to be sent for consideration of divisions a resolution recommending that where no night pharmacy exists, and chemists are called upon to dispense after closing hours on ordinary days, an extra charge of Is should he made up to 9 p.m. and 2s Gd therefter. A remit from Canterbury expressing appreciation of the Pharmacy Board’s actions in regard to the Poisons Bill and calling for sustained endeavor to get the Bill carried was unanimously endorsed. It was decided to recommend for consideration of divisions a proposal that matriculation be substituted for Ihe present A section in the pharmaceutical examinations. In a discussion it was pointed cut that this alteration probably would facilitate the provision of special tuition at University colleges if the Pharmacy Board reported in favor of a scheme suggested by Auckland in connection with the revision of pharmaceutical education. The next conference was fixed for Dunedin in March. —P.A.
