ALLIED WAR DEBTS
AMERICA NOT PUSHING BRITAIN. HARDING SUGGESTS ALLIED FUNDING. "LONDON, Oct, 5. Inquiries in the best, financial circles have proved that the report that America is demanding the immediate re-payine # nt of a thousand million of the war debt, is without foundation. Direct evidence to the contrary is found in a Washington dispatch, which states that President Harding intends to request, early consideration, and the prompt passing of a measure providing for the funding of Allied debts. A Washington correspondent, however, qualifies the statement, commenting that the present temper of Congress, particularly the Senate, makes the passage of such a measure very dubious indeed—no matter how strongly the President may urge it.— United Service.
