CRICKET ASSOCIATION.

DEBATE ON SUBSCRIPTION FEES. CLUBS AND THEIR GEAR. A meeting of the • Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held on Wednesday night for the purpose of appointing a management committee for the ensuing year, Mr. H. E. -Maude presiding. The following ellibs were represented: North Gisborne, City,. Kaiti, and Garrison. The following management committee was elected: Dr. Kalilenborg and Messrs. Blair (City), Cook and Nugent (Kaiti), Taylor (High School). Forster (Coast), File (Garrison), Balfour (North Gisborne). J’lie question of allowing country

players to play in town clubs was considered, and, in this connection, the following rule, drafted by Mr. -Maude, was approved: “Any player resident in the district of any sub-

association shall be eligible to play in competitions under the control of the Association, provided that he has been duly registered by this Association, but shall not be eligible to play in the final round of any such competition, unless ho shall have played on six playing days prior to the commencement of such final round. Any player shall elect for which club he shall plat".” It was decided that members of the High School teams shall be eligible during the summer vacation to play for the? respective districts to which they belong. Dr. Kohlenberg brought up the \question of the subscription fees which had been fixed liy the different, clubs. and recommended that a uniform scale be arranged. A discussion ensued as to a fair fee to ask juniors to pay, some considering that- .V- would be sufficient, while others held that juniors destroyed more gear than seniors, and that 10/6 was not too high. Mr. Allen said that they should not bother about the senior players.Personally he did not- care if the seniors never played another match. But it was essential that nothing, should he done to discourage the entrance. of young players. It was deckled that it should be a recommendation to the delegates to support at their club meetings that the senior subscription be £1 Is and the junior subscription for members under 20 years be 7s 6d. As regards the question of the pooling of gear, it was suggested by Dr. Kahlenberg that each club make a list of what gear it required and that this year be purchased in hulk hy the Association and allotted by them to the clubs. Air Balfour thought that each dub should purchase its own gear as it would then know what it was buying and could pic-k the style of material it wanted.

Alb’ Maude considered that it would he absurd for each club to buy its own gear when, bv purchasing in bulk, "it could be' obtained much more cheaply. Tt was eventually decided to hold a conference of the clubs interested at which arrangements would be made. for either joint or individual purchase.
