MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
The Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ weekly sale was held at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday. There was a small attendance of buyers and competition was not keen. Prices were little changed, a possible slight decrease being accounted for. by the poor attendance. Tlie yarding of fat sheep was in excess of the demand, while stores were yarded in small numbers only, and there was not a good demand for what was offered. Most lines in a large yarding of pigs changed hands at satisfactory prices. The yarding of fat cattle comprised six pens, cf which five were sold. Only 9 stores were offered, all but one of these changing hands at low figures. Dairy sorts were plentiful, 58 being offered. They were, however, mostly of very inferior quality ,and only six changed hands at comparatively low prices. The yardings were as follows:—Fat sheep 395, fat cattle 28, pigs 75, store sheep 880, store cattle 9, dairy cattle 58.
