STORE SHEEP IN LIMITED DEMAND The usual stock sale conducted by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association was held at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday. There was a fair attendance and good yardings in all classes of sheep. Good fat wethers brought up to 235. Pigs were yarded in large numbers and realised good prices. The number of store sheep offered was large. The yarding included 401 fa.t sheep. 3 fat cows, and 54 pigs. The demand for store sheep seemed to be somewhat limited, buyers being in small numbers. The yarding was a small one in store cattle. There were only about 30 store cattle offered, comprising empty aged cows, which were passed in at £3. Dairy cattle: Some fair cows sold up to £l7 10s. The additional yardings were: Store sheep, 4486; store cattle, 30; dairy cattle, 32. In the store sheep class-there were 47 pens yarded, of which only 12 were sold under the hammer. This indicates that the demand was limited and poor, but some sales were afterwards made privately. There was only a moderate demand for fat sheep.
