Captain Mundv. aide-de-camp to His Excellency the Governor-General, arrived yesterday by the Tangaroa.
Yesterday a private telegram wa> received in Gisborne' announcing the dentil at Auckland of Air J. T. Julian, head of the firm of J. T. Julian and Sen, Ltd., the well-known contractors, who at present are. engaged in building the Masonic Hotel. Air On- Walker, S.AL. Taranaki, has been appointed Chief Justice of Samoa in place of Air AYilson, formerly of Auckland, who is returning to New Zealand. Air Walker leaves next month. Air Alosley, S.M., Otago, comes to Taranaki.—P.A.
Air A. T. Jones, manager •of the Gisborne City Band, has returned to Gisborne from Wellington, where he has been making arrangements for the accommodation of the band at the championship contest in February.
As Air 11. Jacobi, of the Gisborne Hardware Co., was cycling from his luncheon yesterday ihe front forks of his bicycle broke when riding along Grey street, and he was thrown heavily to the ground. Mr Jacobi was attended by Dr. Kahlenberg and four or five stitches had to be put in his face.
The death occurred yesterday at Wellington of Knox Gilmer, a wellknown dental surgeon, of Wellington. He was a son of the late Hamilton. Gilmer and was born at Greymoutii in IS7S. He married in 1906, a daughter of the late Rt. Hon. R. Scddon and leaves two children. The brothers are Dr. Hamilton Gilmer and Mr S. Gilmer'and there are two sisters.—P.A.
