PRESS CONFERENCE.
OVERSEAS VISITORS WELCOMED TO VANCOUVER.
WORK BEFORE THE DELEGATES.
VANCOUVER, July 17
Arriving late in the evening, the journalists were welcomed by the Vancouver Institute of Journalists informally. They proceed this morning by two special trains on the Ca-nadian-Pacific railways to Sydney, Nova Scotia, to meet the British contingent and tour the country westward of Ottawa.
The conference programme has been partially arranged from August sbli to 10th. There will he an address by Mr. Meighen, the new Premier of Canada, on general topics of the day—Empire press cables, wireless telegraphy, press censorship and the newsprint supply. Discussion will be opened by Lord Burnham. and continue throughout the afternoon of August 4. The discussion on tlie Empire Press Union will he on August G. Empire partnership will be the only general topic at the morning session. On August 7 the morning sessiou will deal with Empire trade, and the after,loo i press and post-war problems.—A. and N.Z.C.A. The pre-arranged schedule of the Australasian journalists is being discarded. The party remain here a few days disintegrating and then crossing the' Continent in leisurely fashion, reassembling in Montreal on July 31 to meet the British journalists and proceed to Ottawa for the conference as previously scheduled. Afterwards all the delegates will cross Canada westward in two trains do luxe.-—A. and N.Z.C.A.

Leys (Auckland Star), E. Abbey Jones (Southland News), Henry Horton (New Zealand Herald) and P. Selig (Christchurch Press).
