LIVELY MEETINGS LAST NIGHT. “ANYTHING MAY HAPPEN." IMMEDIATE INTERVIEW WITH PREMIER .DEMANDED. Tress Association Telegram. WELLINGTON. April 28. The Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association. is meeting to-night, when matters connected with the bonus.are likely to come to hand. The officials say that almost anything may happen as" a result of the meeting. PALMERSTON N,. April 28.
An urgent meeting of employees of the Manawatu section of the Post and Telegraph Officers’ Association was marked throughout with enthusiasm. The following resolution were unanimously passed:—"That the Ministry lie given twenty-four hours’ notice to meet our executive, and further, in the event of our demands being side-stepped that stop-work meetings be called throughout the service to decide on further action. The meeting also heartily resolved to support the railway employees in their struggle for justice, and offered its support. Keen feeling was evident throughout the meeting, which closed with cheers for the railwavmen.
NEW PLYMOUTH, April 28. At a record meeting' of the New Plymouth branch oi' the P. and T. Association this evening a resolution was passed calling upon the executive to immediately demand an interview with the Prime Minister and the Postmaster GeWral in connection with the rate or pfry allotted, and that in the event of a refusal stop-work meeting be held throughout the Dominion. Hie sympathy of the meeting was also expressed with the railwaymen in their fight for justice and reaspnable remuneration. The non-receipt of the result of the Chief Justice's inquiry with regard to the late Postmaster-General’s promise of a war bonus resulted in a strongly worded resolution being forwarded tor transmission to Cabinet. A resolution was also passed requesting the executive to immediately summon a .conference to discuss the present position Oi the service.
