ESCAPE FROM TRAIN.
- PRISONER CAUSES SENSATION ON MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS. Press Association Telegram. AUCKLAND. April 23. The prisoner, William Frederick Mutiny, who achieved notoriety by escaping from Alt. Eden gaol early in January, created a sensation on tho Wellington express to Auckland, whither lie was l>6ing returned unde.-' escort, by jumping from the train as it was nearing Auckland yesterday afternoon. He took a desperate risk by jumping from a carriage lavatory window, when the train was- at full speed, close to the Middlemore goif links at Man.gore Crossing, and while lucky in escaping serious injury, ho was so knocked about and .shaken by the Fall that lie was not able to get far from the lino before one of the escorting warders got back there and recaptured him.
