TALE OF A BAR OF SOAP
A German internee died recently at.the Holdsworth Camp. New Sout.i Wales. , Following precedent, an mvento: y was taken of his effects by memoers of A.M.C. with the vow of forwarding them to his next-of-km. But it was not a long job. . Two of the A.M.C. ticked them off. „ •*, ‘‘A razor, said one. “Right,” said the other. And so'it went on. articles of little or no value being enumerated “A bar of soap,” was called. “That’s no good to sell or keep, 'said the other, and it was cast aside. An A.S.C. man picked it up. He added it to his scrubbing, kit. He was rubbing a floor with it industriously next- day, when he found be had struck a gold mine. . n _ The soap had concealed in it zo b °The*'iiext-of-kin will get them otherwise this story could never have been told.
Mr C. Campbell Dawkins son of Commandant Dawkins has been appointed organiser of the Prohibition Party in the Poverty Bay District, and has taken up his duties here.
