CONCESSIONS TO RAILWAY MEN.
INCREASED MONEY AND LESS HOURS.

The leading concessions to railwaymen as published here, are as follows : —The war bonus 3s per diem is made permanent and applied to both married and single men; first grade guards 12s 6d to 14s 6d per diem; second grade, 12s 6d to 13s. Fifty per cent., guards are to be first grade and half of these specially selected by the Department will receive 15s per diem. First grade shunters receive an increased sixpence a day. Twenty five per cent, of the first-grade enginedrivers will be selected by the Department and will receive I7s per diem. An eight hour day is established except for tablet porters. All work between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. counts as time and a quarter. A forty-four hour week will ho observed in workshops-, a reduction or four hours weekly. Double time will be paid on Christmas Day. Good Friday, King’s Birthday and Labor Day, and time and half on Sundays.
