SAVAGES EN FETE, A(‘. tlio Opera House to-night the Tribe of Savages who are responsible for 'sundry offences, will present to the Gisborne public one of the most enjoyable entertainments that has been staged in Gisborne during the last few years. The final rehearsal was held in the theatre last evening and the comments heard were all of tho best. Even the conductor complimented the orchestra on their performances. The local part of tho programme went well and the choruses were of the best. Judging from the rehearsals' the night, as stated in tho advertisement, should be a “night of nights.” and the public should not miss going. The box plan is filling rapidly and those desirous should book their seats so as to avoid confusion and undue delay. Savage Mainland Foster will as usual take the controlling interest in the hand and wield the baton, with Savage C. Wood as leader. Day sales can also be. obtained at the box plan office. The Korero is bcyig held for patriotic purposes on belialf of the. Red Cross' fund. on “Our Day” and the Citizens’ Defence Committee’s funds in equal parts. It is .anticipated that there will be a record house and that the patriotic funds will benefit by a substantial amount. No special appeal is being made to patrons to contribute otherwise than by admission fee. The sta"e arrangements arc practically complete and are in the hands of a capable committee.
