AWARDS AND SETTLEMENTS. Press Association Telegram. AUCKLAND, Oct. 12,. The Arbitration Court, in the carpenters’ award, increased the war bonus from 2d to 3d per hour from October 21st. The rate for carpenters and joiners, with the bonus, is Is 9d per hour, the highest in Aiistralasia, it is understood. Painters wanes have been increased from Is 4-i(f to Is s id per hour and a bonus of 3d per hour. The Court decided that.an award should he made m the soft goods trade, and referred the dispute back to the Conciliation Board for consideration on its merits. . . m , Press Association Telegram.
WELLINGTON. Oct. 12 The terms of settlement of the tramway trouble arrived at at a conference with Air. Newton, Conciliation Commissioner, have been agreed to by the men. . The Labor Department received advice that there was a strike at Nightcaps colliery over the dismissal of a man who refused to do a certain cleaning iob. About twenty miners wore affected. After investigations, the man was reinstated and work was resumed..
