GERMANY AGAINST THE WORLD.
ANOTHER STATE DECLARES WAR. Australian ami N.Z. Gable Association WASHINGTON. July 23. The Honduras Government has declared war against Germany. Two months ago Mr. Balfour (Secretary for Foreign Affairs) gave, in answer to a question in the House of Commons, lists of both categories, which we reprint as they were given. The following countries had declared war on Germany:—Russia, France. Belgium, Great Britain. Serbia, Montenegro, Japan, Portugal, Italy, Roumania, United States. Cuba, Panama, Siam, Liberia, Greece, China, Brazil, Guatemala. The following had broken off relations with Germany:—Bolivia. Honduras, Nicaragua, Hayti. Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador.
Since peace has been forced upon Russia and Roumania these countries have to he removed from the list of Germany’s present active enemies, though in Russia’s case a partial state of war continues. These lists are most impressive. Twentyone States have at one time or another in the last four vears declared war on Germany; to-day there are nineteen States at war with ber. and seven more have broken.off relations with her because of her lawlessness. On the other hand, Germany and Austria, the original members of the Central Alliance, have added only two allies—Turkey and Bulgaria—to their standard in the four years.
