ROBES DE GOTHA.
FASHIONS FOR THE CELLAR
. LONDON, June 12. . Reuter’s .correspondent at Paris writes:—
“It may be thought that the 'big Berthas and the Goth as are making a roign of terror in Paris. Let the world bo reassured. We had ten raids in a fortnight, but they were much more terrifying to read about than to endure. ~ “When three preliminary tsamnOjh shots are heard, followed by a long, lugubrious wall of sirens, Parisians get out of bed, grumbling, of course, and put on their cellar costumes. Those of the fair sex are often coquettishly dainty. The wearers collect various impedimenta, such as lamps, books, playing cards, sewing material, and wine. They then descend to safety in the registered shelters below their own house or somewhere near.
“Such now is the nightly routine. It is methodically and calmly undertaken, and only those who are unduly venturesome’ or indiscreet run the risk of bombs.
“It is a great nuisance', andl wearying on the temper and! nerves, but if tlie Goth as rob Parisians- of their sleep the intruders cannot rob the people of their courage and ironical gaiety.”
