CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON
Press Association TelegramWELLINGTON, Jan. 2. The conference of the Educational Institute passed a resolution that the present method of electing Education Boards is unsatiefaetory. The following remit was adopted: “That the Institute should endeavour to impress upon the public and the Government the great importance of providing improved educational facilities and that the Government be urged during. 1918 to provide adequate funds for school buildings and play-grounds and a sufficient number of inspectors to enable the work of advising and assisting teachers to be satisfactorily carried out. There should also be medical inspection and free dental treatment for children atpublic schools and" technical schools. Other necessary things are compulsory continuation classes conveyance of children to central schools, additional staffing and a Workers Educational Association.”
