BRITISH FOOD PROBLEM.
SHORTAGE OF SOME LINES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. Nov. 4. Queues were formed outside many London provision shops owing to the shortage of tea, sugar, butter and margarine. The shopkeepers limit customers’ purchases. Prices of meat are being lowered. At Llandilo colliers stopped the butter carts, declaring that local wants were not supplied*. The police, . inducing the owners to sell half locally, formed queues and acted as sellers of single pounds. Sir Arthur Yapp, Dii'ector of Food Economy, has announced the formation of a League of National Safety to promote food economy. All supporting are to sign an undertaking to help victory by preventing waste.
