A CHRISTCHURCH MEETING.
Press Association Telegram. CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. At a public meeting to-night in connection with the movement to reduce the hours for the sale of liquor, tnere wa s a fair attendance. Ihe speakers were Mr Holland (Mayor). Dean Carrington, and Messrs. J. ! • Mai tin, F Wilding. K.C.. G. T. Booth, A. S. Taylor, and A. AV. Bcaven. . Motions on the lines of those passed at Dunedin, providing for 6 o clock closing of hotel bars and a restnction upon the importation and sale oi manufacture of intoxicating liquoi were carried, also “That this meetino- of Christchurch citizens cordially supports the National Efficiency Board in the important work it has undertaken, and urges the Government to consider and act promptly on its recommendations.”
