United Service. LONDON, June 6. The military preparations on the northern British front continued, 1 with unpavallelled intensity and the guns can he heard in London, 150 miles distant.
Windows and crockery are vibrating in Kent and, Sussex and a faint thudding can be heard at Harrow. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We drove off raiders south-east of Lons and southward of Armeutieres. We successfully raided southward and eastward of Ypres. A French communique states: A British attack at night- time restored ns part of the trenches wherein the enemy gained a footing yesterday, north-west of Froidmont Farm. A later French communique reports intermittent artillery actions on the greater part of the front, especially lively in Belgium, the HurtebisC sector, and Vauclerc Plateau.
