LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS. BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION. TO'THE ELECTORS OF GISBORNE. t ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— L Notwithstanding any rumor or report to the contrary, I beg to inform you that I am a Candidate for a seat on the Borough Council. Should you favor my election, the main principles that will govern all my actions will ibe based upon the question as to whether it promotes tine greater Health and Cleanliness of this town of ours. Should any proposal follow those lines, it will receive my support. Borough matters that require immediate attention are the completion of the Water Supply and Sewerage, the Tramways, and the Stormwater Drainage. The matters requiring attention are. the widening of the Wliataupoko Bridge ; the putting down of Bicycle Tracks in Ormond Road, Gladstone Road, and Wainui Road; the extension of Tarred Paths and Streets in Town and Suburbs; and, more particularly and more important, a radical change in the present insanitary system of Street and Bridge Cleaning. Should I be elected, I propose giving the Meat question my serious consideration, and in this matter I am an ardent supporter of Mr. H. Hill, the Borough Councillor whose persistency and courage for the last two years lias done so much. i would solicit the Votes of all those who favor a Cleaner Town. I am, etc., JOHN MOUAT.
