SEIZURE OF WIRELESS PLANT.
ALLEGED OFFENCE UNDER P. AND T. ACT. SUMMONS ISSUED ON ERCEL M. COFFE. CASE TO BE TRIED BY GISBORNE COURT. As a .sequel to the seizure by me police of a wireless plant- in a house at Whataupoko, on Thursday, a summons was issued on Saturday, bv Detective McLeod, to Ereel MorvynGolte, requiring him to attend at Gisborne Magistrate's Court on Friday next- to answer to an alleged offence under “The Post and Telegraphs Act. Hie wording of the summons is taken from the Act as follows: —
“Did erect a plant capable of transmitting or receiving telegraphic signals without having first obtained the consent of the Governor-in-Council.”
Goffe is a member of die Gisborne telegraph staff, and it is alleged that he erected an aerial in connection with the wireless plant from the chimney of Sds father’s house to a willow tree in the grounds. The wireless plant is now in the hands of the police.
The police ca-se will be proceeded with on Friday.
