LINKING UP NIUE.
A NEW MAIL SERVICE. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEUBAIO AUCKLAND, March 9. Arrangements have just been completed between the Government and the owners of the ketch ICereru for the maintenance of a direct mail service between Auckland and the Island or Niue for two years. Niue is a solitary island about to miles long and 19 miles broad to the north-east of the Tongan Group. «Its products are copra and grass hatsFiW time to time attempts have been made to link Niue up with tho othei inter-island services, but the venHues have not proved profitable and now the Keruru and the mission steamer John Williams are the only vessels that make regular calis.
