ENTERTAINMENTS.

PATHE PICTURES. Entertainment of a bright and sparkling nature will be suplied at His Majesty’s Theatre to-day. The children will enjoy a rare treat at the Matinee this afternoon, when “Roderick’s Ride,” a story dear to tlie hearts of boys and girls, will he the principal attraction. 4 A doctor, summoned to a lonely mountain ranch finds the little girl of the household dangerously ill, hut asserts that he life can be saved if a certain medicine can bo procured within two and a-half hours. Roderick, tlie 13-years-old brother of the little girl volunteered to make the ride, some 20 miles, and return in time. On his way to the drug store he arranges for. relays and comes back with the medicine in time to save his little sister. It is a great race with death, and the brave boy wine. Patrons can look forward to'a rare treat to-night, when a fine colection of the latest successes from the' best-known studios will be introduced. The star drama will ho a powerful sea story, entitled “To Right the Wrong,” which tolls an intensely interesting tale of two brothers/one of whom is a customs officer and the other a ne’er-do-well and <a smuggler. The brothers come into collision, and the smuggler shoots his brother seriously. There is, however a grain of gold in the smuggler, and later he atones for all his sins by nobly laying down bis life for his brother. The Lubin players supp.v a bright comedy in “Quarantined. This shows how Lieut. Mason is engaged to Ruth Wi.’son, the colonel s daughter. His father, a grouchy old hanker, objects, and when he hears that the couple are going to got married and go to the Philippines, he goes to the colonel to protest. There is a smallpox scare, and the doctor cl the regiment, to help young Mason, seizes tlie father and confines him in the hosnital until tlie wedding is over. “Mrs Twcdledum as Militant Suffragette” is a Tiling sat .-re. which shows how the ladies go 1 the upper hand. Even their dress begins to take on a masculine character, and conversely the gentlemen, forced to take >all the household duties, break cut into mnsfores and lace caps. Other films well worth seeing are “'Mary in Stageland.” “Natoosa,” “Trip to Cape Kidnappers,” “St. Gothard,” and Fee latest “Giumont Graphic.” Special music will be supplied by the popular Pathe Picture orchestra.

OPERA HOUSE PICTURES. “Zaza.” a colored Pathe Drama 2000 feet in length, .will be the starring film to-night. The story is of

a young girl who gradually rises in the theatrical profession to a height which her lover thought it impossible to reach. Zaza "at home receives Caesar, .a friend of the profession, whom she asks to appear with her. Caesar is inclined to think Zaza will make a hit. She secures an engagement at a third-class cafe near Pans, whore she and Caesar meet with success. She next meets Dupresne, a manufacturer, with whom she falls in. love, but on learning that lie is already married she hurries to his house filled with thoughts of vengeance, which are happily upset by meeting Dupresne’s child. She meets with success in her profession and two year later Dupresne, attracted by her renown, asks her to revive old memories, but she bravely tells him that theirways lie apart. _ Vitagraph supplies two films to-night, ‘‘J he Change of Clothes,” a drama by Costello,' and “None bv the Brave Deserve the Fair.” “China Manufacturing” is an industrial subject of standin? Pathe Gazette gives all the latest, and “Will Willie Win” and the “Vanishing Lady” give cause for laughter. “The Ambassador’s Daughter,” an Edison drama, and “Talk of Dalfaler” are two strong items. A matinee is for to-day, when the usual 10 per cent, will he given to the children’s picnic fund.

HAMILTON-PLIMMER SEASON

One of the important coming attractions to occupy the attention of local p’aygoers will be the HamiltonPI i miner commences at His Majesty’s Theatre on Wednesdav next, the 30th inst. Tim season wi.l be of three nights duration, during which will be staged no less than three plays, .a theatrical feat vary rarely attempted nowadays. This management, enterprising to a degree, are carrying an exceptionally strong complement of scenery and effects, comprising altogether 80 tons. On the occasion of their last visit here a special feature was the consistently bin business, throughout the season, more particularly the really good impression that was left. Now, with a stronger repertoire of plays and a more powerful company to handle them, wo are surely in for an artistic dramatic treat. “A Woman of Impulse,” a highly successful play with English. American and Australian successes to recommend it, will inaugurate the season. The play is a soul-stirring drama that possesses real charm and a strong human appeal to all classes. “Dr. Wake’s Patient,” most delightful of all comedy dramas, will follow, andl the season will close with a representation of Pinero’s tragic, masterpiece. “The Second Mrs Tanqueray.” The box plans are now open at Miller’s corner.
