ASHBURTON LIQUOR CASES.
A TERRITORIAL in trouble. [press association telegram.] ASHBURTON s May 30. At tlie Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, before Air V. (J. Day, S.AI., the Defence authorities proceeded against Wallace Alexander Ross, a member of the Territorial forces, on a charge of taking liquor into the recent “casual* ’ camp at Orari. Defendant pleaded guilty, and as he had already been fined 10s by the Defence authorities for the breach of discipline and the case was the first of its kind in Canterbury, a nominal penaltv of 40s was inflicted. Edward Robert Hill appeared on a charge of keeping liquor for sale in a No-license district. Forty-four bottles of whisky hqct been discovered by the police under the false bottom of a cupboard in defendant’s kitchen a week ago, and consequently lie did not attempt to defend the case. A , fine of £SO was inflicted.
