ATHLETICS.

TINiROTO SPORTS CLUB. . A TRIP TO RUAKITURI. The officials of the Tiniroto Sports Club are sanguine of unprecedented success in connection with their annual meeting which is to be held at Kuakituri on January 11. Last week Messrs A. Meade, P. AA r . Mossman, A. McPhail, A. Sinton and G. J. S. Small, members of the committee, set out on a journey to inspect the available grounds and select a .suitable spot. A thorough search ended in what is known as “Stallion Paddock,” which is close to the second creek after passing Ruakituri woolshed, half-way to Mr E. Penty’s homestead. The spot is an ideal one and could be done in about one to one and a-half hours from Wairoa by motor and in 3(- to 4 hours by horse-propelled vehicle. It has much to commend it in several respects and must lie the centre of great attraction, as a scenic spot and otherwise, to 'large numbers of hqli-s day-makers.
