RAILWAY SIGNALMEN.
NO MORE 12-HOUR SHIFTS. ENGLISH COMPANY'S WELCOME REFORMS. [INDEPENDENT PRESS CABLE.! LONDON, Sept. 3. Some long-desired labor reforms, which are regarded as among the greatest by which the railway workers of this country have ever been benefited, are about to be introduced bv the management of the Great Northern R:\ilway. The most important changes are those that will be effected in the signal boxes. Signalmen who have hitherto worked twelve hours will in future be ou duty for only ten, and the ten hour men will have their shifts reduced to eight hours. Ticket collectors also are to have shortfcr hours of labor, with increased rates of nay. and other workers are to have their conditions improved.
