[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] LONDON, Aug. 2. There was sunshine to-day for the continuation, of the match Australia v. Derbyshire at Derby. The pitch was soft and tricky. Kelleway and Matthews continued to make a stand, adding thirty more before they were separated. The next three wickets added nothing. Then Emery and Whitty made a stand, the ninth wicket adding 15. Emerv and Webster added 22 for the hist wicket. Kelleway Kitted for 137 minutes, and gave a faultless display. Matthews batted strongly on the leg side. Emery went in for driving, getting four fours from three consecutive balls off Forester. The century was registered in 165 minutes, and was finished in an hour to-day. Derbyshire made a poor stand. Matthews proving destructive. Merton alone made any showing, and batted fer 100 minrjtes. Humphries made a fair display. The innings lasted 130 minutes. Trie Australians in their second innings lost five wickets for 62. Bardsley was unbeaten for 17. There were 1500 spectators present. (Received Aug. 4 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 3.

The weather at the start to-da-v was fine, with a drying wicket. The attendance numbered 3000. The five remaining Australian wickets, which were disposed of f>- lunch time, added 75, whereof the last men, Bardsley and Webster, accounted for 49. Smith added seven to his overnight score, while Bardsley brought Iris contribution to 23. Emery, following Smith, was dismissed first ball. Bardsley, by excellent all-round play, made steady headway, while Whitty and Hazhttwere content with keeping up their wickets. The ninth wicket had fallen before the century am-eared. Webster showed sound defence, and batted for 50 minutes. Bardsley, who batted for 145 minutes, gave a hard chance at 22 to mid-off. The next ball he drove back hard, and was almost caught by Morton. The latter and Foster divided the bowling honors The innings lasted 175 minutes, .and closed for 137. Derbyshire started their second innings on a treacherous wicket, but it got easier after tea- Morton alone was able to make any headway the bowling. He batted for 75 minutes, and played a sound innings. He gave a chance when 13 to Whitty off Hazlitt. Whittv and Matthews made the most of the difficult wicket.
