ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PAREN !‘S [JPEB. PEF.SS ASSOCIATION 1 CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 4. The painful story of distressing circumstances in the life of the Smith family was again unfolded, in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning when George Charles Smith and Emily Smith were charged with having wilfully neglected Archibald Charles Hozer Smith, Ernest Herbert Hozer Smith, and Lawrence Clyde Hozer Smith so as to ear.se them unnecessary suffering. Evidence was given showing that the children were not properly clothed and went to school bare-footed, their feet being in a very bad stateBoth defendants pleaded not guilty and were committed on trial at tlie Supreme Court. Ban was allowed in one surety of £75 for each defendant.
