AUCKLAND MEETINC. BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE BY DORMOR. [PER press association.] AUCKLAND, Mar. 3. The Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held its autumn carnival on Saturday before a fair crowd. A few showers of rain tell, but not sufficient to materially affect the track, which was in good order. The best race of the day was the half-mile handicap won by A. W. Dormor from scratch. The time (lmin. 58 1-5 sec) is equal to Hector Burke’s New Zealand record. As he was suffering from influenza contracted at the New Zealand Championships at Invercargill Dorm or did not start in any other race. G. N. Hill did not start for similar reasons. L. J. Mark won both the 100yds. and the 440yds. Chapmionships of Auckland —the former in 10.2-5 sec. and the latter in 52.1-5 sec. A feature of the sports consisted of the cycle handicaps of one and two miles. J. Adam (a New Plymouth cyclist) won both with brilliant riding. ■ The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club has decided to urge that A. W. Dormor be sent to the Olympic games.
