A leading Wesleyan manifesto has been issued, urging that any scheme of disendowment in Wales should be just and rather err on the side of generosity to our Episcopalian "brethren . Bishop Willisden. applauding the manifesto, states if the terms are the same as those granted to the Irish Church, Wales will be in a very strong financial position. Unionist newspapers applaud Mr. Bonar Law’s speech, which they term the best fighting speech for years. LORD HALDANE DEFENDS ARMY. SAYS EQUIPMENT IS QUITE UP TO DATE. (Received Jan. 29, 10.55 p.m.) Cord Haldane, replying to Mr. Bonar Law, said that the references to obsolete weapons was due to a casual remark of Lord Roberts, who had not an opportunity of studying at close quarters. The new Howitzers were the finest in the world and the field guns the best, except that the French territorial field gun was slightly heavier, but for most purposes as good as the German Regular field gun. He hoped the new infantry rifle would prove the best in the world. The supply of horses had been greatly increased, and the War Office was introducing changes in mechanical transport.
