CORRECTING MAGNETIC OBSERVATIONS.

At 4 o’clock this morning the British Antarctic expedition Slip Terra Nova left Lyttelton wharf and. went out to sea to enable observations to be taken to obtain data for the correction of the magnetic observations made while th© vessel was in the Antarctic regions. There was a strong nor*-west gale blowing, and the ship returned to the wharf at midday.
