HEALTH OF THE POPE.

RESULT OF AN OPERATION. rUNITEB PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. ROME, August 11. The Pope’s knee has been punctured, and the fluid removed. NO IMMEDIATE DANCER. BUT END MAY COME AT ANY TIME. According to a special message to the Sydney Sun last week the Pope continues extremely weak. An official bulletin issued from the Vatican announces that there is no immediate danger. His Holiness’s condition, however, is such that in Rome there would be little or no surprise if the end came at any time. HIS HOLINESS IMPROVING. SUFFERING ALSO FROM SORE THROAT. A message received later last week stated that the Pope, whose complete recovery from a sore throat is being retarded by the excessive heat that prevails, was reported to be much stronger. So much, in fact, had his Holiness improved that he was able to take a short drive in the grounds of the Vatican, the first outing he had had since his illness.
