AVEL LING TON REGATTA. Press Association. AVEL LI NGTON, March 1. Tho AA’ellington Rowing Association regatta was held at Petono on Saturday, in fine weather. The water was a trifle lumpy at first, but calmed down after three or four races. Crews from AVanganui, Picton, Blenheim, Canterbury, and Christchurch Union clubs competed, in addition to local crews. Th© following are the results: — Maiden Fours, I mile, Ist prize £B, 2nd £2. —Star 1, Petono. 2, Canterburr 3. AVon by t-lireo lengths, one foot between second and third. Senior Fours, 2 miles, Ist prize £ls, 2nd £5 ss.—Blenheim 1, Canterbury 2, Pioton 3. Star also started. Avon by three lengths, the same distance between second and third. Time, Mm in 1-see. Junior Clinker Fours, If miles, Ist prize £B, 2ml £2. —Union 1, Picton 2, Star 3. AY’on by a quarter of a length, after an exciting finish ; four, lengths between second and third. Time, 9min 52see. Senior Double Sculls, H miles, Ist prize £B, 2nd £2. —Wanganui 1, AA'ellington 2, iStar 3. Union also started. AY’on by a length and a half. Time, lOmin 21 sec.^ Maiden Double Sculls, 1 mile, Ist prize £5, 2nd £2. —Blenheim 1, Picton 2. These were the only starters, the others being too late in coming to the post. AY’on by two and a half lengths. Time, 7mm 37scc. Youths’ Fours. 1 mile, first prize £B. 2nd £2. —Cufterbur.v 1, Star 2, AY’ellington 3. The only starters. AY'ou by a length and a half.
