Dr. Valintine, Inspector-Genera of Hospitals, leaves to-day for Auck land.

Mr 11. G reash am, inspector for the Auckland and Taranaki industrial district, is at present in Gisborne on a visit of inspection. This is the first time he lias visited this part of bis district. Ho returns to Auckland this morning. Mr. W. H. Renner, chief postmaster, commences his annual leave on Monday. He intends spending part of his vacation in the South. Mr. S. Gumming will be in charge during Mr. Renner’s absence. Mr. J. B (low, a candidate for the Bay of Plenty seat at the next elections. has been spending a few days in Gisborne, and loft for Opotiki last evening. He will visit portions of the electorate on route. A Association telegram from 'Wellington states that Mr. James Ashcroft, tor 15 years official assignee at Wellington, is about to retire from tlie Government service, on account of ill-health.
