Splendid moonsonal rains are general and in all Northern rivers floods are causing damage. Police boats rescue many people from roofs in the inundated area round Newcastle. From one residence round which the water was 10ft deep, 16 people were rescued. The latest report from Maitland is that the flood, after rising to 30ft, is falling. Many farms are inundated. The timely warning prevented losses of stock. At ISowraville 16in of rain fell in 24 hours.
