ROWDY FLAX-MILL HANDS.

FREE FIGHT WITH RAILAVAY GUARDS. Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Feb. 22. A number of flax-mill hands, who were in town on Saturday, created a great disturbance on the 5 o’clock down train going to Longburn. Guard Grant endeavored to remove them from the train, when the men resisted, and two of the Manawatu Co.’s guards were called to his assistance, and the men were eventually got out, when a rough and tumble fight took place between six flax-mill hands and three guards. It must have gone badly with the latter, liaiTit not been for the timely and unexpected assistance of Constable Ingram, who happened to be travelling in plain clothes. The men were finally overpowered, and a message sent to Palmerston, when another constable went out in a cab and the men were all arrested.
