[To the Editor.] Sir,— 1 was very pleased to road the article in your issue of ISUt inst under the above heading, for it is high time something were done ill safeguarding the public health. Iho state of things described is, 1 leaf, only too common in Gisborne, and those responsible should be untile to answer for their negligence, which not onlv endangers their own health but that of the whole community. A sanitary inspector with plenary authority 'should be annointed, and it systematic house-to-house inspection by him would go a long way towards the desired end, and those guilty of negligence could be brought to book promptly. Trusting that these Few remarks tuny lead to' something definite being done in the matter,—l am, etc.. Cl VIS.
