THE GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE.
RUMORED CHANGE DENIED. (Special to Times). WELLINGTON. Feb. 18. His Excellency the Governor has returned to Wellington. There is no foundation for the statements that have been made in certain newspapers, to the effect that- His Excellency will reside at the Lower Hutt or Palmerston North. Considerable, difficulty is, however, being experienced in getting a residence for the Governor, and when a house is secured it is certain that considerable additions land alterations will have to he made to it to make it suitable lor the lamijy and staff or for entertaining. Oil Friday night His Excellency leaves for Christchurch, where lie is to lay the foundation stone of a new wing at Christchurch Lollege. Tlie Governor and party consisting of Lady Plunket, Mr. ami Mrs. Arthur Rhodes, Miss Cresswell. ami tho Governor’s staff, will leave Lyttelton on Saturday, 29tli inst-. in the lutanekai lor Akaroa, where thev will spend Sunday, Ist March A yiMt wdl then be paid to Stewart Island and the West Coast Sounds
