MAaYKE’S BAY V. POVERTY BAY. Tlio annual representative match between the above was played -oh tho Tnruhoru grounds on Saturday. The weather was splendid, Imt tho wicket commenced wearing early in the game, and became almost unplayable as tho game continued. Lusk won the toss from AA’. Gibson, and took Redgrave with him to tho wickets. As both players have represented Now Zoalaml a big score was expected from them, but Redgrave put ono back to McDonnoll before, a run was recorded. o—l—o. Bailey joined his skipper, and ran into double .figures, but gavo Gardiner a chance off Torkiiigton. 17—2 —ll. Fenton followed, and both batsmen became aggressive. Fifty runs appeared. Lusk played nicely all round the wicket and Fenton scored principally with fine off drives. At 62 Fenton was clean bowled by Torkiiigton. 62—3—21. AA’hito joined his captain and O’Hara and Robinson were given n chance with the ball. Robinson proved expensive, 20 runs being scored off two and was almost unplayable. AUCKLAND'II. V. EAST COAST. Tho Aucklanders commenced the second match of tlieir tour at Victoria Domain on Saturday against the East Coast AVanderers. Liidbrook captained the .Coast, and winning the' toss from Haddon, batted. Ludbrook 59 and Drabble 42 . were chiefly responsible for the East Coast, score of 149, the other batsmen being unablo to stand up to Hussey’s breaks. Auckland rail up the respectable total of 254, Prime 46, and Kavanagh 40, W. Coleman not out 52, being the principal run getters, la their second venture the East Coast' made 108, AA’. Reeves being chief scorer with 23, Ludbrook 19, and Nurse 14 also showing good form. In their second innings the Aucklanders gave a fine exhibition of first-class cricket, Haddon retiring with 101 to his credit. Ralfe and Hussey also played nicely. AUCKLAND -v. COMBINED. At 11 o'clock this morning at the Victoria Domain, the Auckland team will commence the final match of their tour—a two days' match against a combined Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay eleven. The combined team will consist of the following players:—Redgrave, Bailey, S. Palmer, Hallamore. W. Gibson, Turner, Cox, Robinson, McDonald, Wilson, .T. Lang, It is certain that there will he a big crowd to see Haddon, the Auckland crack, who has created much enthusiasm by his phenomenal hitting. Already he lias played two magnificent innings here, and an excellent display from him can he confidently expected to-day. Good play can also lie looked for from the combined team, as it includes Redgrave, a player who has wielded the willow hi Sydney and Wellington, and Bailey, ope of the Hawke’s Bay “reps."
