COOPER’S BIOGRAPH COY.

At His Alajesty’s Theatre last night Cooper’s Biograph Company opened their Gisborne which will extend until Alonday evening. Being the evening of Good Friday, a semi-religious programme was submitted. The religious pictures were of a high order of merit, with an almost total absence of flicker. They included a series descriptive of Joseph’s captivity in Egypt, a picture representing .Daniel in the lion’s den, and a specially good representation of Balshazzar’s feast. Then pictures of a general nature, including “Faust” scenes, were shown. Air. Hugh AVilson gave short descriptions of each picture, which were very helpful to those unfamiliar with the love-story of Faust and Alarguerite. Many other highly interesting pictures were shown,-and sacred songs wore sung by Aliss Fisher, who was encored on each occasion she ap-\ pc-a red.

This afternoon at 3 o’clock a matinee performance will be given, when, in addition to tlio “Faust” pictures, a large number of “funnigraplis” will bo shown. A special feature wil be made of a series of films showing Dick Turpin’s famous rule to A r oik. Illustrated songs will bo given by Aliss AVilson, who will also appear with Air. AVilson in musical comedy sketches. Children will ■ic admitted to the floor of the house for Oil.
