The Premiers’ Conference opened this aftornoon. Visitors were welcomed by the State Governor. • All Statsß were represented, excoptiog Westraiia. Mr Deakin (Federal Premier) also takes part in portions of the discussions, involving Federal matters.
The agenda oomprisos 49 subjects ef a very wide range submitted to the different States, including the questions of representation at the New Z island Exhibition, holding a oombinsd Exhibition in London, admitsion of Norfolk Lland to the Commonwealth, appointment of a High Commissioner and a Bystem of advertising the resources of the States, a Federal Agricultural Depa tment, and bounties for rural industries.

Mr Carruthers was chosen President of tbo Conference. Only formal business was taken to day. The press were excluded. Mr Carruthers supplies a daily summary of the business done. Tho Conference lasts a week. Uncertainty exists whether Me Beddon intends to come. There has been do information sines, in reply to the invitation, he promised to attend if possib’e.
