WEST END FOOTBALL CLUB. The annualmßeting of the Wost End Football Club was held in the Te Rau College last evening. The Rev. F. W. Chattorton oooupiod the oh air. There was a large attendance. Owing to the absence of the secretary, Mr R. U. Skeet, no report was presented. The following office-bearers were elected —Patron, Hod. J. Carroll; president, Mr A. F. Kennedy; vice-presidents, Messrs W. O. Skeet, J. Burke, D. Hepburn, D. J. Barry, G. K. Pa'sley, J. Colley, and Rev. Chatterton ; vice-president Rugby Union, Mr W. O. Skeet; captain, Mr H. Carr; deputy-c&ptaiD, Mr H. Wepika; hon. sec., Mr A. C. Galbraith hon. treasurer, Mr Bert Johnston ; delegates to Rugby Unioo,* Messrs L. B. Sherriff and D. Cowan; selection committee, Messrs Sherriff, Carr, and Wepiha; management committee, Messrs Sherriff, Cowan, Petersen, Wi Friday, Kohore, and RaDgi; auditor, Mr R. D. B. Robinson.
Junior officers Captain, Mr G. Petersen ; deputy-captain, Mr B. Rice ; selection committee, Messrs G. Peterson, B. Rice, and H. McLernon.
Mr D. Cowan presented two handsome trophies for competition amongst tbe juniors—one for the best baok, and the other for the best forward. Mr Cowan was accorded a hearty, vote of thanks for his liberal offer.
The question of having a competition for third grade players was discussed, Bod the secretary was directed to write to the other olubs in favor of tbe soboine.
Tho secretary of tbe Kaiti-City Club, Mr J. EatoD, wrote re the formation of a Referees’ Association in Gisborne, asking the West End Club to endorse the KaitiCity Club’s recommendation to tbe Poverty Bay Union that such an association be formed. In order to encourage young players his club thought such Bteps should be taken, aod therefore asked the West End Club $0 give tho matter consideration, and if approved to suggest names to the Union of those eligible for tho position. The meeting approved of the formation of a Referees’ Association, and decided to forward to the Union the names of Messrs W. Howard, L. B. Sherriff, Bert Colebourne, and H. Baloeavis.
