Obituary : Julian Ralph, the New. York correspondent of ‘the London Daily Mail,.
Julian Ralph was one of the foremost descriptive newspaper writers of the day. He adopted a piquant and graphic style that found favor with the reading public, and his writings were always read with great interest in England and America. During the Boer war he represented the Mail as a war correspondent, and in that capacity wrote some of the finest descriptive articles dealing with the vicissitudes of the campaign. He proved a good friend of England, though on occasion he took the part of the frank critic, and his strictures were effective, for the reason that he was careful about his facts, and was in a posisition to speak from an independent standpoint. By his death the Press loses one who was widely known by his brilliant writing.
