The Japanese Commissioner has arrived to enquire into land legislation, and the construction of public works. After visiting the various Slates, he proceeds to New Zealand. He saysthat there is plenty of room for expansion of trade between Japan and Australia. Although there is a good deal of resentment at Australia excluding people from the East, it has not affected the desire to trade. The Angfo-Japancse alliance has done a great deal to steady the position in the East,
