MYSTERIOUS DEATH.

REMARKABLE EVIDENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, last night. At the inquest on tho body of H. L. Edie, found dead in bed at the Ship Hotel, deceased was identified a 3 a wool-classer, a widower, with no family known, about 60 years. He died of failure of the heart. A peculiarity about tho case is that the man was not known to bo in the hotel. He had been in town for a fortnight, but was not stopping there. The police could not find out where he had been stopping. The porter swears that he looked into tho room where the body was found on Saturday night, ana the room was empty, while Dr Reid, who held a post mortem to-day, says the man must have been dead three or four days.
