AN AFFECTING FAREWELL.
[BV TELEGRAPH.—PRES 3 ASSOCIATION.) Timaru, last night. Colonol Bayloy, who has been in command of the South Canterbury Volunteer sub-district for nearly 18 years, aud now retires on oecount of the abolition of the sub-districts, bade farewell to the Timaru Infantry Company at a parade this evening. In a short speech he oxprossed deep regret at severing so long a connection. He thanked them for the good spirit they had shown as volunteers. Colonel Moore replaced Colonel Bayley, who wa3 much affecting at parting.
