Tho Agent General’s cable, dated London, Saturday, status : —“ Mutton market —Buyers not inclined to make forward purchases at present prices. A further drop in prices seems imminent. Tho average price to-day of Canterbury is srd, North Island 4ijd, River Plato 4jd, Stocks of lamb on hand are light. Tho averago price to-day of Now Zealand, Canterbury brand, are s:jd. Beef is quiet. New Zealand hinds are 4:Jd, fores 3:jd. Butter is dull. Prices to day are 105 s per cwt, Danish 107 s, Siberian 975, Canadian 995. Cheeso is very firm. Tho Karumoa shipment is at 62s per ewt. Hemp is firm. The price of good fair Wellington grade on spot is £33 10s per too, January I to March shipments £3O. There has been no alteration in tho cocksfoot seed markot j sinco lust woek.”
