POLITICAL JOTTINGS.
(Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, last night. Both political parties held caucuses t>day. The Government patty had tbe remaining Bills on the order paper under consideration and a great many were sacrificed for this session, including such important Electioneering Bills as the Young Persons Protection Bill, and the Shops and Offices Bills. The Opposition pariv made a presentation of x gold watch to Mr F. Piraoi, and a dessert service to Mr '•John Hutcheson, two of their memlers who will not be candidates at the. General Elections, but who, at the presentation indicated tbe remote possibility of returning to politics at some future date.
A presentation was also made to .Miss Alien (daughter of Mr James Bruce, the member for Brute), on the eve of iier marriage. The Old Age Pension Act Amendment- Bill has now become law in such a form tiiat any person otherwise entitled to a pension may transfer his property to the Public Trustee, even though ; he has 'only* come into the fee sin pie- ot it the day before. The provv sion, requiring him to have resided on it for ten years having been dcfinately struck out- c. f the measure*
