BAD TIMES.
300 MEN THROWN OUT OF EMPLOYMENT. By Telegraph. Press Association. Copyright Sydney, Dec. 20. Notice has been posted at Broken Hill Block Fourteen Mine that the directors are sorry owing to the prices of lead and silver falling to such an extent that they had no option but to cease working sulphide ores on the 21st inst., when operations below the two hundred feet level will cease, and which will be shut down until the prices improve. About three hundred men will be thrown out of employment.
