Tho Marylobone Committee have approved of the proposal to widen the bowling crease one foot each way. It was decided to be undesirable to have wickets prepared artificially. The captains’ decision of 1900 in regard to illegal bowling had done so much good that it was considered unnecessary to suggest a drastic measure, but a hope was expressed that the counties would decline to play doubtful bowlers.

In the match between the Englishmen and the Goulburn twenty two the latter made 190 runs—Carr 33, Carow 43, Gribble 26. Lilley took two wickets for 38, Gunn six for 62, and Jones ten for 49. The Englishmen lost six wickets for 134 MoGahey 55, Hayward 24, Gunn (not out) 20.
